JO TRIZILA – President & CEO
Jo Trizila is founder & chief executive officer of Dallas-based TrizCom Public Relations and Pitch PR. Founded in 2008, TrizCom PR is a full service public relations firm. Established in 2015, Pitch PR is a division of TrizCom PR and created in partnership with The Dallas Entrepreneur Center to assist startups and entrepreneurs with their public relations needs. TrizCom PR has been included in the 2014 and 2015 Dallas Business Journal’s largest PR firms, awarded the Pegasus Award in 2015 by the Public Relations Society of America, named as one of the Top PR Firms in 2015 by Clutch Research and Review, and is a certified woman-owned business by the National Women Business Owners Corporation.
Jo is a multi-talented, high-caliber public and media relations marketing pro, with over 20 years of experience building and leading integrated and strategic public relations operations for a vast array of companies. She has an in-depth background in crisis communications, publicity, expert positioning, promotions, influencer marketing, investor relations and legislative affairs for Fortune 500 corporations, small to mid-size companies and not-for-profits/nonprofits. She is experienced in conceptualizing, creating and implementing innovative communication strategies. Additionally, she has held highly visible, leadership positions and has earned a reputation for continually making a positive bottom-line difference while fostering excellent relations and maintaining a high profile in business.
Jo has helped place clients’ stories in thousands of outlets internationally, nationally, regionally and locally. Jo earned her undergraduate degree in theatre performance at the University of Texas at Arlington that included a study abroad at The University of London. Her graduate work includes Wayne State University in Detroit and University of Dallas.
Prior to TrizCom PR, Jo was senior director of media relations for the Dallas Regional Chamber, the director of marketing and publications for the Irving Arts Center and director of marketing for the Shakespeare Festival of Dallas.
Currently, Jo serves on the board of directors for American Advertising Federation (AAF), is a board member for Heroes for Children and is an advisory board member for Taylor’s Gift. She has served on host committee for An Evening with Pat Green for Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer and Taylor’s Gift inaugural Outlive Yourself Awards. She is also a member of the National Association of Professional Women. Her nonprofit activities are numerous and include Taste of the NFL: The Ultimate Dallas Cowboys Tailgate Party, Online/Silent Auction Chair (2006); Big Brothers Big Sisters, Big Sister (1999-2004), Big Brothers Big Sisters, Gala Chair (75th Anniversary – 2003 & 2004); The Freedom Run, Founding Member & Executive Committee (November 2001-2004); Dallas Theatre League, President (1999-2002); Irving Chamber of Commerce & Four Season’s Resort & Hotel Golf Tournament Chair (October 2000); Leon Rabin Awards, Chair (1998); and served on the Dallas/Fort Worth Area Tourism Council, Media Committee (1998-2004).
Jo is the recipient of the YWCA Woman of Achievement 2000 Technology and Communications Award and was selected for Texas Woman Magazine Woman of the Month (April 1999 issue). She is a Leadership Irving graduate (1999-2000) and served as its vice president (2000-2001).
JEFF BOUNDS – Writer & Analyst Relations
Jeff spent 16 years covering technology, business and scientific topics at The Dallas Business Journal. Jeff holds an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a masters in journalism from Northwestern University.
SUSAN BUCHANAN – Writer
Susan Buchanan is a New Orleans-based business writer, specializing in the economy, the environment, agriculture, precious metals, energy and shipping. She writes press releases for TrizCom PR and articles for The Louisiana Weekly newspaper, and is a blogger for The Huffington Post. Formerly, Susan was a commodities reporter at Dow Jones Newswires in New York.
KAREN CARRERA – Senior Account Executive
A 40-under-40 award recipient in 2003, Karen Carrera, APR, has counseled senior executives on strategic communications and branding issues for more than 20 years. Her expertise spans across healthcare, construction and design, education, energy, finance and insurance, and government and utilities. And she has trained hundreds of corporate spokespeople on how to navigate their way through a media interview or deliver an industry speech.
Karen’s acumen for developing and successfully executing integrated strategies has helped launch many new brands and brand initiatives, including Anheuser Busch’s We all Make a Difference campaign, several hospital brand evolutions, new hospital institutes and clinics, and an architecture firm’s national brand. Most recently, Karen led a brand evolution at Medical City that helped reshape and redefine its identity, as well as guide a complex website overhaul—she launched a redesigned, reprogrammed site with entirely new content in six months.
In addition to branding, Karen’s counsel in crisis communications has helped organizations manage or avoid large-scale crisis events. For example, she has worked with large, urban hospitals across the country on malpractice or patient privacy lawsuits, she helped Turner Construction develop their international crisis planning process, and she led communication strategy and emerging issues in FedEx’s war room during 9/11.
A former NBC- and NPR-affiliate reporter, anchor and producer, she has a bachelor’s of journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia, one of the world’s most recognized journalism schools. She has published articles in business journals, and has delivered key-note, panel and workshop speeches at many conferences. Karen sits on the board of the Texas Trees Foundation.
JEFFREY CHEATHAM – Senior Account Manager
Jeff Cheatham comes to TrizCom with over 15 years of high-profile experience in media outreach and public relations. With a strong background of previous agency work, Jeff’s career began in the advertising world and later migrated to full-time public relations. Having recently returned to the Dallas market, Jeff spent over 12 years in North Carolina, working public relations in the fast-paced world of NASCAR, where he represented several top drivers, sponsors and teams on a national stage. His most recent successful endeavor included heading up the public relations effort for the City of Dallas’ JFK 50th Commemorative Memorial Event in Dealey Plaza in November 2013. With a career encompassing all aspects of corporate communications, Jeff is bringing strong results to TrizCom’s client list.
DANA COBB – Director, Business Development & Senior Account Executive
Dana Cobb has over 20 years’ experience in marketing, publicity and promotions. A graduate of SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts, Dana’s career spans marketing for the prolific Broadway producers, Dodger Theatricals, to her recent experience as the director of marketing for the AT&T Performing Arts Center where she oversaw the dynamic publicity team in the launch of over 74 events and announcements each year.
As a member of the TrizCom team, she has afforded placements on behalf of her clients on prominent outlets such as BBC Worldwide, the New York Times, National Public Radio (NPR) and American Film Institute. In her backyard of Dallas, her clients (which include restaurants, representatives of the local labor market, an entrepreneur start-up accelerator, and specialized events and trade shows) have been covered on all major, regional broadcast outlets, print and online media on a consistent basis.
With rich business and cultural experience and proven innovative marketing strategies, she brings a unique skill set to her clients. Dana is a shameless promoter of the arts to the culturally curious in and around Dallas through her association with KERA.

DENISE EISER – Social Media
Denise is first and foremost a marketer and strategist, with the ability to understand both high-level business goals and tiny brand nuances. What gives her a potent one-two punch is she is also a veteran of social media, having run her first Facebook ad as a college student more than 10 years ago.
After graduating from Tulane University with a degree in communications, she spent a few years at a large, traditional advertising agency. Later in 2009, when social media marketing was still met with skepticism, Denise started a social media discipline at a boutique ad agency in New Orleans. In 2011, she joined forces with The Barber Shop, where she helps businesses understand social media and claim their presences there, towards measurable objectives.
Denise has worked on million-dollar television spots all the way down to "free" tweets. She puts every dollar to work with a strategic focus – be it in a Facebook ad, Pinterest contest, PR interview, blogger campaign, or other social media process. Social media is infinitely measurable, and Denise is an expert at assimilating social data with brand goals and budget decisions.
JENNIFER KUENZER – Digital Specialist
Jennifer Kuenzer coordinates TrizCom PR’s social media channels and archives press clippings for our clients. Before joining TrizCom PR, Jenn honed her skills as the social media manager and accounts supervisor for Contemporary Ballet Dallas and as an online content coordinator at D Custom, where she created social content, wrote blogs, and monitored social activity for clients like Omni Hotels, Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, and HVAC Learning Solutions. With her experience in online media and content marketing and her history in both international and small firms, Jennifer excels in engagement with our followers and increasing our online visibility. Her arts background gives her the ability to communicate in a wide range of voices and tones, finding the most effective and creative way to get the message front and center to the desired audience.
KATIE MUDD – Account Executive
Katie Mudd is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a bachelor of arts degree in communication studies and a bachelor of arts degree in public relations and strategic communication.
Katie manages several key TrizCom accounts, including its nonprofit and pro-bono work. She is especially adept at wrangling local broadcast television networks to cover client news, whether onsite or in-studio. She has secured coverage for clients locally, nationally and internationally including coverage in the following outlets: ABC, Associated Press, Australian Associated Press, BBC, BuzzFeed, CNN, CW, Dallas Morning News, FOX, Huffington Post, NBC, New York Times, Prevention , Reuters, SheKnows and USA Today.
In 2015, Katie received a Pegasus Award for her work on theJeff Gusky campaign and a Pegasus Award of Honor for her work with Operation Kindness. The following year, she was also recognized with a Pegasus Award of honor for her work with Heroes for Children and a Pegasus Award of Honor for her work with Solis Mammography.
Katie has several years of experience serving clients in corporate communication as well as a wide range of industries, including lifestyle, travel, retail and not-for-profit. She was recently elected to serve as the 2017 Programs Manager for the Dallas Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and is a founding member of Southern Methodist University’s Communications & Public Affairs Young Alumni Board.
KIM NOVINO – Account Executive
With more than 20 years of public relations and marketing communications experience serving B2B and consumer technology clients, Kim Novino has created and managed results-focused programs for both new venture and Fortune 100 companies. A tenacious publicist, first-draft writer and hands-on strategist, Kim has directed promotional campaigns for H&R Block, Motorola Solutions (channel marketing), Texas Instruments Education Technology, Texas Instruments RFID Systems, and a number of other technology companies.
ALLISON PLESS – Writer & Editor
Allison Pless brings more than 25 years of writing, proofing and editing experience to TrizCom PR, including serving as managing editor of a community newspaper (print and online) and as a technical writer and project manager for a large non-profit. Her volunteer work has included writing and publishing a bimonthly, state-wide newsletter and a monthly news page in a national magazine for a women’s organization, and she currently volunteers time each week editing and proofreading items for her church. Born in San Antonio (she is a sixth-generation Texan and proud of it), Allison has lived in Dallas for most of her life. She is a graduate of Texas Tech University, where she received a bachelor of arts in history with a minor in English.
AMANDA BROWN - Intern
Amanda is a graduate of Texas Tech University where she received a bachelor of arts in public relations along with a minor in general business. She previously interned for Texas Tech University’s Undergraduate Admissions office and Athletic Communications department as well as the March of Dimes- Dallas Division. She has experience serving clients in a wide range of industries, including education, sports and nonprofits.
REBECCA ELLIS - Intern
Rebecca is a current senior at Texas Tech University from Frisco, Texas. She will be graduating in May of 2018 with a bachelor of arts in public relations. She is a member of several communications organizations on campus and is a middle school tutor at the Boys and Girls Club in Lubbock, Texas. She has experience serving clients in a wide range of industries including entertainment, non-profit and special events.
NICOLE-MICHELE TRAYCOFF – Research and Writer
Nicole-Michele has more than 17 years of proven public relations experience, both in the corporate and agency sectors. Her professional services include the following: internal and external communications, trade and consumer media relations, high-level strategic planning, social media counsel and digital content development, crisis communications and operations/disaster planning, corporate/brand reputation management, and media training.
